The 6-inch line of comic-styled figures by Mattel is, frankly, one of the best lines I've ever collected. Zipline Batman and the Joker are simply superb, and Freeze and Croc aren't too shabby either. Nightwing's hair is a bit of a mess, and if/when I finally find the new sculpt of Nightwing, I'll be switching their heads, so I have a good version of the character in his comic-accurate costume. Meanwhile, Robin is almost perfect. I say almost because he's almost as tall as Batman. This is a 16 year old kid! Really, he looks older than he should. The other problem is that his gloves were black, when they should be green. So I re-painted them. I also painted the dreadful light brown 'highlights' in his hair to their more natural black. What the heck was Mattel thinking?
His mask should be the same color green, but I actually like the way it looks in black, so I left it alone. Now, when the figure stands beside the DC Direct Impulse (unfortunately yellowed with age) and the 'Return of Superman' Superboy (also from DC Direct), I can recreate the original three members of Young Justice, a comic I miss greatly. Who knows, maybe someday I'll get my hands on the new Teen Titans versions DC Direct is making, but for now, Young Justice is together again!
